Certifications

Certifications are the foundation of quality

We have always followed a path of quality and excellence in our coffee production, without ever forgetting respect for the environment. Over the years, we have obtained many certifications from international institutions, which attest to our commitment to pursuing these goals. Our quality is 100% certified.

Our certifications

Successful companies are driven to promote quality in all areas of their business: from how they operate, to the levels of service guaranteed to the customer, to the finished products. The ISO 9001 Regulation is an international standard regarding quality management, applicable to all organisations, operating in any sector. It is based on 8 principles of quality management (all indispensable for a well-run company):

  • Leadership
  • Focus on the customer
  • Staff engagement
  • Process-based approach
  • Systemic approach to management
  • Continued improvement
  • Decisions based on factual data
  • Mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers

Mokador therefore confirms its commitment in these areas, checking and controlling the quality of processes throughout the production chain, from the purchase of green coffee, to roasting, to its sale.
Some of the main advantages are:

  • Demonstrating the company's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction
  • Guaranteeing that the products and services the company offers effectively take into account the needs of customers and statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Measuring the company's progress towards continued improvement in its market performance, using a reference standard for comparison
  • Improving the company's results in organisational terms

Caring about protecting the environment improves a company's image, and correct management of environmental problems also drives organisational changes.
The ISO 14001 regulation is part of a series of international standards that regard Environmental Management Systems, applicable to all types of organisations.
It is built on the principles of a management system that involves the phases of planning, execution, control and measures for improvement. The application of the standard defines the most important requirements to identify, control and monitor the environmental aspects of any organisation with an environmental policy.
Mokador is therefore committed to respecting all the requirements set by environmental regulations, on waste management and increasing energy savings, reducing production waste and reducing environmental impact.

Some of the immediate advantages of adopting an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System are:

  • greater trust from customers, investors, the public and the community, thanks to the guarantee of reliability this commitment shows
  • better control over costs and savings on raw materials and energy used
  • reduction in financial guarantees where provided for in the applicable legislation
  • reduction in insurance premiums with regard to the possibility of environmental incidents

Only companies with a compostability certification can really claim that their product is 100% compostable.

The term compostable is different from the term biodegradable. A material is considered compostable when, after being broken down, whether naturally or industrially, it transforms into compost. Organic materials (such as garden waste and food scraps), decomposed in certain conditions by macro and microorganisms, transform into a substance similar to topsoil which is generally used as a fertiliser in agriculture or for potting flowers and plants. It is rich in organic elements, improving the structure of the soil and the availability of nutrients.
In order to be defined as compostable, a product must disintegrate in less than 3 months and no longer be visible. The residues must also present no risk of eco-toxicity.

Mokador has chosen to work to help the environment, venturing into the world of compostable materials. In collaboration with DIN CERTCO, a certifying body that certifies the compostability of materials using the SEEDLING international compostability framework, we obtained our first certification in 2018 for coffee pods made from filter paper. The company then continued with the compostable Diva capsule project, certified in 2019, also using the SEEDLING framework.

The compostable capsules from the exclusive Mokador Diva system are SEEDLING DIN CERTCO certified, and can therefore be fully disposed of as compostable waste. Another small step towards building a better future.

Mokador has put quality at the centre of its company philosophy, and this is why we wanted to obtain the voluntary product certification issued by the international certifying body Bureau Veritas for our unique blend for the Ho.Re.Ca. market, Mokador Gran Miscela.

The product certification for Mokador Gran Miscela submits the following parameters for control by Bureau Veritas:

  • Defined sensory profile. Mokador's aroma and flavour is controlled and guaranteed over time.
  • Separate roasting. The individual varieties of coffee are roasted separately in order to bring out their best sensory characteristics.
  • Air cooling. This locks the aromas into the freshly roasted bean through a natural forced air ventilation system.
  • Controlled ageing. The roasted, cooled coffee is blended and aged for 15 days according to Mokador's production method, before its final release for sale.

This guarantees a very high-quality product with consistent characteristics.
To receive and maintain this certification, as well as in-house controls, the product is regularly tested by the certifying body throughout the production chain, through an external panel of expert tasters who confirm its sensory consistency at least 4 times a year.

Mokador applies the same production process for all blends produced.

The word Kosher in Hebrew means "in compliance with the law" or "suitable", and indicates that a food product has been produced in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Bible. This certification reflects and indicates the transparency of the product, which has been submitted to and passed strict certification procedures. A Kosher certified product is the fruit of careful selection of ingredients and guarantees no risk of cross-contamination.
The company has received Kosher Certification for all coffee produced in Mokador's facilities.

Organic coffee is the perfect combination of the pleasure of drinking an aromatic drink and the awareness of making a sustainable choice, for the environment and for your health. Organic coffee is grown following strict organic standards that do not permit the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilisers or GMOs. The production process is also based on respect for biodiversity and protecting the soil. Organic coffee is therefore a choice that goes beyond simply enjoying coffee as a drink. It is a commitment to ethical farming practices, respect for the environment and promotion of health. In a society that is increasingly focused on sustainable choices, organic coffee stands out as a conscious, satisfying alternative for coffee lovers.

On the 6th March 2020, from an institution recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Mokador received the qualification to process and package organic coffee, labelled and sold exclusively with the Mokador brand with the ID code 101303.
